The defending champions GT will host the 4-time champions CSK for the IPL 2023 final. Speculations have been rife about Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement from the IPL this season and this letter or post from the CSK admin further seems to have added fire to those speculations.
“Every time you stepped on to the field, you gave us butterflies,” the CSK Twitter account added, with a number of pictures of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in yellow.

Meanwhile, Dhoni could be batting for one last time in the IPL. He has had a good season with the bat in the proper finisher’s role. Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s 104 runs have come at a strike rate of 185.
Meanwhile, some of the former cricketers have made their predictions regarding the IPL 2023 final. Former India and CSK off-spinner Harbhajan Singh opined that GT are a strong unit but standing in their way is Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
“CSK is a successful team and surprisingly has played with the same team. This team has reached the finals the most number of times because each of its players believes in the ability of each of their partners. Part of the reason is that its captain believes in his teammates and is one of the most shrewd cricketing minds in the world – his name is Mahendra Singh Dhoni,” Harbhajan Singh said.
For former India and CSK all-rounder Irfan Pathan, the mind says GT, but heart wants CSK to win.
“Quality wise Gujarat Titans are much ahead in the bowling department than CSK. In terms of man-to-man marking. Gujarat Titans are ahead. But it will be an emotional match between CSK and GT. I am a Gujarati and will want GT to win, but my feelings are inclined towards MS Dhoni. There’s still no clarity on whether he’ll play next year. Because of the Dhoni factor, the heart is backing CSK,” Irfan Pathan said.
