‘Fearless’ Nicholas Pooran Slogs Chahal For A Massive Six

Three nights ago Nicholas Pooran was smashing the likes of Imad Wasim, Wayne Parnell, and Andrew Tye – some of the established T20 bowlers in the world – to all parts of the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, propelling MI New York to the inaugural MLC trophy.

Back for the West Indies duties in Trinidad against India, on the very first ball he faced, from the experienced, astute, and clever Yuzvendra Chahal, Nicholas Pooran showcased his T20 fearless mode by smacking the leg-spinner over mid-off for a four.

This was after Chahal had taken two quick wickets in a space of three balls to dent the West Indies. But why fear when Nicky P is here.

After a dot ball following that boundary to Chahal, Nicholas Pooran went even more adventurous and slog-swept Chahal for a massive six over deep mid-wicket, sending the Trinidad crowd dancing. It was a tossed up delivery from Chahal, and Pooran welcomed the invitation, connecting it scintillatingly, going down on his knee, and bludgeoning it over the fence.

This is not to forget that Chahal is one of the best leg-spinners in the world; is India’s all-time leading T20I wicket-taker and is the leading IPL wicket-taker of all-time. But such is Pooran’s quality, confidence, and form that he won’t mind going after even one of the best.

In the next over, he attacked Axar Patel for similar results – a six and four on the leg-side.

The stylish left-hander has been in sensational hitting form over the past year and his confidence exuded when he decided to take down Chahal, and after that Axar Patel – two spinners turning the ball into him, making it a positive match-up for the left-handed batsman
