'Not Sure I Have Insurance': Ellyse Perry's Funny Response On Breaking Car Glass

Australian legendary all-rounder Ellyse Perry created an iconic moment in the WPL history when she shattered the window glass of the sponsor’s car during the match between RCB and UP Warriorz, which was match number 11 of the WPL 2024, at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium.

She has now given a hilarious response when asked about this moment, saying that she is now in a “bit of strife” about not having insurance in India to cover the car damage.

In the penultimate over of RCB’s innings, Ellyse Perry took a couple of steps down the pitch and hammered a delivery from Deepti Sharma on the legside. It was a huge six from the Aussie star over wide long-on where the car of the sponsors was kept for display. The ball hit the side window glass directly and it promptly broke away.

Perry’s RCB teammates were astonished with the blow to the car. The batter herself had a sheepish smile and put her hand over her head in amazement. This was a rare instance in cricket – and the first time in either IPL or WPL that a batter managed not only to hit the sponsor’s car window but also break it.

Speaking with the broadcasters after the match, Ellyse Perry jokingly said, “I was a bit worried. I’m not sure I have insurance over here to cover me. So in a bit of strife there.”

Ellyse Perry left speechless by Chinnaswamy’s atmosphere

The Bangalore leg of the WPL 2024 has ended. RCB won three of their five matches and it was a huge turnaround from the home fans in every game, supporting Smriti Mandhana’s side.

Although the 33-year-old Ellyse Perry has played a lot of cricket around the world, including a T20 World Cup 2020 final at the MCG, she said the atmosphere at the Chinnaswamy was simply unbelievable.

“It is the best atmosphere I have consistently played in front of in my entire career. All five games we have played here have been amazing. Incredibly grateful to the crowd for coming in such large numbers… Probably had a great chance to get myself in today with Smriti at the other end. Great to perform in front of our fans,” she added.
