South Africa and RCB legend AB de Villiers has backed RCB to win the IPL 2024 season this year and end their IPL trophy drought.
While RCB has one of the biggest fanbases in the IPL, the fans remain thirsty for at least one IPL trophy. AB de Villiers, who made his name in the IPL with his sparkling performances for RCB from 2011 to 2021, says that he is “quietly optimistic” of RCB’s chances to lift the IPL trophy this year.
RCB have boasted of some of the legends of the game like Virat Kohli, Anil Kumble, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and now Faf du Plessis has been part of the franchise for two seasons. Despite having such a big superstar and highly successful players, RCB have not won the IPL glory even once, though they have reached three IPL finals.
In his recent Instagram video, AB de Villiers was asked about RCB’s chances this year in IPL 2024.
The South African said: “RCB will win the Trophy in this year IPL 2024, I’m quietly optimistic”.
ABD was also asked what if he woke up one day as Virat Kohli. The South African replied, “I would have to cal Mr. 360”

AB de Villiers gives his opinion on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to India’s T20I side
One of the talking points among the Indian fans recently has been the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the 3 T20Is against Afghanistan. The duo had not played a T20I match for more than 13 months, but have made their return in the shortest format with the T20 World Cup 2024 in mind.
AB de Villiers believes that this is the right move as both are highly experienced and successful players, and India would need them to win the T20 World Cup 2024.
“I am not surprised at all. I am very happy for Virat and Rohit. You want to get your best team out there to win the T20 World Cup. Yes, I understand the criticism out there that youngsters have been missing out and guys who have been playing all the time,” De Villiers was quoted as saying by PTI.
“I was in a similar position at the back-end of my career and it didn’t work out for me. It’s working out for Virat and Rohit and I think it’s the right move, a smart move as you want your experienced players to be out there and they have been there and done it before and they can try to win World Cup for you,” he added.
