Pakistani Journalist Got Trolled Badly For His Tweet On WTC Final Scenario

India have consolidated on their second position in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table following their 2-0 series win over Bangladesh.

After a comprehensive 188-run victory in Chattogram, India needed a defying 71* (105) stand between Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin to register a 3-wicket victory in a thriller in Dhaka.

India’s win percentage in this WTC cycle now stands at 58.93. Australia are at the top of the table with a 76.92 win percentage, while South Africa (54.55%) and Sri Lanka (53.33%) are right behind India at No.3 and 4 respectively.

With only a 38.89 win percentage, Pakistan are 7th, behind even England and West Indies. Babar Azam’s team are virtually out of the race to the final, but only mathematically in, needing some big close-to-miracle for them to reach the WTC final that will be played in June in England.

It seems like the race to the WTC final now only remains between Australia, India, and South Africa.

However, Pakistani journalist Farid Khan is not giving up hopes, despite most of his countrymen having already given up dreams of Pakistan reaching the 2021/23 WTC final, given Pakistan have lost both of their home Test series this year – 1-0 to Australia and 3-0 to England – and are not able to figure out the best pitch and combinations and players to play in home Tests.

Farid Khan took to Twitter to point out the mathematical way of Pakistan reaching the WTC final – which involved Australia whitewashing India at home, and Pakistan also whitewashing New Zealand.

“With India’s 2-0 series win against Bangladesh, Pakistan are still mathematically alive in the World Test Championship. They need to whitewash New Zealand 2-0 and then hope Australia whitewash India 4-0 among few other results to go their way,” Farid Khan.

Farid was brutally trolled by netizens on Twitter for his false hopes.
