The wicketkeeper-batter put up a stellar show with the bat as he played a stunning knock of 67 off just 52 deliveries. During his sensational knock, Mohammad Rizwan also became the first batsman ever to score 1000 T20I runs in a calendar year.
Yes, you read that right. Rizwan achieved this special feat after he reached the 35-run mark. Riding on his stunning knock, the Pakistan cricket team posted a target of 176 for four against Australia.
However, not many are aware of the fact that the sensational opener was in hospital yesterday and was suffering from a high fever but today, not just he turn out for the match but also played an explosive knock for his team.
“Rizwan was in hospital a night ago, suffering from a bronchitis condition, but he is a warrior, a quiet start to tonight’s campaign, but he has great courage, so has Babar, fantastic to see them combine so well,” said Pakistan batting coach and former Australia opener Matthew Hayden.
