Star Pakistan batsman Babar Azam continued to have a poor Test series in Australia as he was dismissed for only 1 run in Pakistan’s first innings at the MCG by Australia.s Skipper Pat Cummins. Babar Azam had managed scores of 14 and 21 in the first Test.
While Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood failed to purchase a wicket, Australia skipper Pat Cummins stepped up to propel his side not only back in the game, but on top of Pakistan in the ongoing MCG Test.
The Pakistan bowlers put in a better performance – barring the wayward lines which cost them 15 wides and 20 byes – in the second Test in Melbourne than they did in the first Test in Perth and bowled Australia out for 318 at Lunch on Day 2.
Pakistan were 124/1 with opener Abdullah Shafique batting solidly and Shan Masood batting with aggression. Pat Cummins then rocked up with a sensational spell on either side of the hour mark in the 3rd session to run through the Pakistani top and middle-order by picking up 3/37 in 13 overs and stamped his authority as one of the best Test pacers in the world once again.
Cummins first took a terrific return catch to dismiss Abdullah Shafique. He then reserved his best ball – a perfect one for a fast bowler – in his next over to knock over Babar Azam’s off-stump. Babar got out for just the score of 1 in 7 balls.
It was a peach from Pat Cummins to dismiss Babar. A length ball outside the off-stump, hitting the pitch on its seam and jagging in just enough to beat Babar’s inside edge and hitting the top of the off-stump – a dream ball for a fast bowler.
Babar looked on the stumps with a stunned reaction while fans trolled him on social media.

Cummins would then also dismiss Agha Salman, while Hazlewood and Lyon, too, got into wickets, leaving Pakistan tattering at 170/6.
