The Pat Cummins led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced off against the Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 30th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday, April 15.

As the match started, RCB’s captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to field first. RCB made three notable changes to their playing XI, as they dropped Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Glenn Maxwell from their XI and replaced them with Lockie Ferguson, Yash Dayal, and Saurav Chauhan.

SRH’s Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma built a strong opening partnership, with Head scoring a rapid century. Heinrich Klaasen continued the onslaught, adding valuable runs alongside Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad.

RCB’s Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli started well in the chase, but despite Dinesh Kumar’s late heroics, RCB fell short by 25 runs, ending with 262/7. The match witnessed a record aggregate of 549 runs.

Meanwhile, after the game, at the post-match presentation ceremony, Pat Cummins said that looking at the match, he wished he was a batsman too. He said:

“Wish I was a batter. A wonderful game of cricket. Amazing scenes. Good fun.”

Furthermore, he mentioned that the pitch at Chinnaswamy Stadium seemed dry, and he admitted to not focusing too much on studying pitch conditions lately. He said: “You try your best. If you bowl an over of 7 or 8, you can have an impact on the game. I have given up trying to read the wicket. Chinnaswamy looked dry.”

Pat Cummins also expressed his happiness on winning another game in the ongoing IPL 2024. He said: “Really happy. Four wins now. The batters have gone about it having a smile on their faces.”
