One of the most shocking facts in cricket is that Faf du Plessis has two five-wicket hauls in T20 cricket and that too in consecutive matches!
This fact was told to the RCB players and they all gave shocking reactions. Virat Kohli, who has spent the last three seasons with Faf, couldn’t believe it, while Mohammed Siraj asked the host whether he was joking.
The 39-year-old former South African captain holds the record for being the only bowler to pick two five-wicket hauls in consecutive T20 cricket. Faf du Plessis used to bowl part-time leg-spin for his domestic franchise.
In 2016, he created this record in the Standard Bank Pro20 tournament while playing for Titans.
Faf is not an inexperienced bowler. He has taken 50 T20 wickets in his career, 54 wickets in List-A cricket and 41 in first-class cricket.
The RCB players sat for a video feature for the franchise, where the host asked them all about which current RCB star holds the record for two five-wicket hauls in consecutive T20 matches. While the players took the names of the bowlers, nobody thought it could be Faf. Even the South African himself had forgotten about his record.
When told, Virat Kohli was shocked. Stunned.
Check the reaction of Virat Kohli when learning that Faf du Plessis has taken two consecutive 5-fors in T20 cricket:
We asked our players a trick question – Who’s the first bowler to pick 5 wicket hauls in two consecutive T20 matches? Hint: He plays for RCB.
We bet 9/10 fans wouldn’t get this right. Fact: 24 out of our 25 players didn’t get it right. 😂

Meanwhile, RCB started the IPL 2024 with a loss against CSK in Chennai. RCB posted 173 through a 95-run stand between Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat, but CSK put on a collective effort to chase the target with 8 balls to spare and 6 wickets in hand.
Losing captain Du Plessis said, “Unfortunately, we lost a little bit too many wickets in that first seven overs, which meant that the guys needed to bat a little bit and stable the innings again. And, at the end, I felt we were 15 or 20 runs short on a pitch that wasn’t as bad as we played in the first ten overs.
“When you play here, you feel like you have to almost get ahead of the game a little bit in that first six overs because CSK is a very good team in the middle overs. For so many years, they squeeze you with the spinners.”
