PBKS vs DC: Prithvi Shaw Made A Big Statement After Scoring First Half-Century Of IPL 2023

On Wednesday, Prithvi Shaw finally returned back to his form with a sublime half-century against Punjab Kings at the beautiful Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala.

Prithvi Shaw registered the first 50 of IPL 2023

Ahead of this knock against Punjab Kings, Shaw had endured a disastrous campaign in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. In fact, Delhi Capitals endured the worst possible season as they are already eliminated from the ongoing season.

In the absence of their regular captain Rishabh Pant, Delhi Capitals would have wanted Prithvi Shaw to lead from the front, however, the young batter has failed to live up to the expectations of the fans.

In fact, after a series of failures, Delhi Capitals didn’t hesitate in dropping Shaw from the playing XI. He only played 6 games, where he scored only 47 runs. He was dropped from the team against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 20.

Now almost after a month, Shaw was given an opportunity to play again for the team and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He played a stunning knock of 54 runs off 38 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six.

Shaw talked about his knock

Later, speaking after scoring his first half-century of the IPL 2023, Shaw expressed his delight over his performance. The opener pointed out that he had worked really hard to regain his form. He said:

“Definitely, after long (feeling good). Sometimes you have to work hard for it. This was the match, I had to work hard, you get the credit later. It’s coming onto the bat nicely,”

He added: “The new ball is seaming a bit but it’s a good wicket to bat on as well. There’s dew. There was dew before the game started as well. It’s the same. If you find the gap, it’s going nicely along the ground.

“It’s not really easy to bat in the powerplay as it’s seaming a bit. When you are hitting that length, it’s not easy to hit shots. Later on, it gets a little bit easier. The slower one is bouncing like a tennis ball. It’s going to play a crucial role for the fast bowlers if they are going to bowl slower balls,”
