Last week, MS Dhoni caught the attention of the internet when he started practicing for IPL 2024 with a new sticker on his bat. The sticker had the words ‘Prime Sports’ on it, which was Dhoni’s way of showing support to his friend Paramjit Singh, who owns the company ‘Prime Sports’. Singh started his sports apparel business two decades ago.
‘Prime Sports’ Owner Reacts To MS Dhoni Sporting New Bat Sticker
Today, ‘Prime Sports’ has become a well-known name, but its roots trace back to a small store in Ranchi. When Paramjit, Dhoni’s childhood friend, saw Dhoni’s touching gesture, it brought him immense joy.
“I am feeling very proud of him. He has always been there for us. And this is our friendship. Friendship No. 1,” he told Aaj Tak. Paramjit also shared a bat gifted to him, autographed by Dhoni himself, with a heartfelt message that read: “Best wishes, Chhotu Bhaiya.”
Dhoni’s new bat sticker made headlines and buzzed across borders, reaching Australia. Even the legendary Adam Gilchrist mentioned it while commentating during the 2nd T20I between Australia and West Indies.
“I saw him hitting some balls in the nets, MS Dhoni. There’s a new bat sticker on his bat. Just a local sports store of one of his schoolmates. Whack the company name on your bat just to give a boost to sales,” he had said.
As Dhoni nears the end of his cricket career, he often acknowledges the support he’s received from people and organizations. Just like in his last game for India in the 2019 World Cup, where he had stickers of SS and BAS, his first bat sponsors. So, it’s no wonder he put ‘Prime Sports’ on his bat for what could be his final IPL season.
