With this feat, Prithvi Shaw has become the youngest batsman to score a hundred on Duleep Trophy debut. Prior to Shaw’s debut, this record was held by the Little Master Sachin Tendulkar.

Earlier, this year, Prithvi Shaw, at 17 years and 57 days, scored a brilliant hundred against Tamil Nadu and became the second youngest from Mumbai, after Sachin Tendulkar, to hit a century in Ranji Trophy.

Prithvi Shaw first came to limelight after he played a marathon knock of 546 off 330 balls at a school match in Mumbai, recording the third highest score in any form of cricket. Playing for Rizvi Springfield School, Shaw compiled the huge score against St Francis School in the Harris Shield, a tournament that brought batting icon Tendulkar into the public eye more than two decades ago.

Recently, Prithvi Shaw displayed a decent form the tour of England where he played five Youth ODI matches. His runs tally there read 21, 48, 26, 13 and 52. He is a very exciting prospect and pundits and selectors are following him very closely.

Now, Prithvi Shaw has a golden chance to equal a record that stands out in Sachin Tendulkar’s domestic career. The young Mumbai batsman has now scored a century on Ranji and Duleep Trophy debut and is yet to appear for Irani Trophy, where he will have a chance to equal his idol’s record.

If Prithvi Shaw scores a hundred on his Irani Trophy debut, he will become the second batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to score hundred on debut in all three competition.
