Young Indian batter Prithvi Shaw continued with his red-hot form as he followed his sensational knock of 244 runs with another stellar century during a One-Day Cup 2023 match against Durham on Sunday in Chester-le-Street.
Shaw Played A Record-Breaking Knock For Northamptonshire
Recently, Prithvi Shaw broke the internet with a remarkable feat, hammering an impressive 244 runs off 153 balls while representing English county side Northamptonshire against Somerset in a 50-over match held in the United Kingdom. He impressed one and all with his powerful performance as he sent a strong message to the Indian selectors with his performance after getting snubbed from the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and Ireland series.
Prithvi Shaw’s blistering knock of 244 off 153 broke a number of records in List A cricket, including that of the highest individual score in the history of the 50-over competition.
Prithvi Shaw Smashed Another Century
Resuming his aggressive batting performance, Shaw stole the limelight once again as he played another brilliant knock against Durham on Sunday.
The Northamptonshire opener brought up his century off 68 balls and finished the game in style. He played an unbeaten knock of 125 runs off just 76 balls. His stellar knock was laced with 15 fours and 7 sixes.
He smashed a four and two sixes off three consecutive deliveries, to set up his team’s six-wicket win in a 199-run chase.
The right-handed batter is currently the leading run-getter in the One-Day Cup 2023 with 429 runs in four matches at an astounding average of 143. Shaw is followed by compatriot Cheteshwar Pujara, who has 329 runs in five innings.
Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw opened up on his India snub and about making a comeback in the team. He said:
“I try not to think too much and take each game at a time. My main priority when I bat is to score runs for my team and make the team win games. But, I feel I am hitting the ball well and I hope that my runs do the talking,” Shaw asserted.
