Young and talented Prithvi Shaw was once again ignored by the BCCI’s selectors as he was left out of the Indian squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa that is set to start on Thursday.

Well, on Sunday, the BCCI announced the ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against South Africa. Two new names – Rajat Patidar and Mukesh Kumar – were drafted into the list of 16 players announced by the BCCI. Apart from the duo, RCB’s  Shahbaz Ahmed and star batter Rahul Tripathi were also given the opportunity.

However, Prithvi Shaw’s absence stole all the attention. Shaw failed to make the cut once again and just hours after the announcement, he took to his social media and shared a cryptic post on his Instagram story. He wrote:

“Don’t trust their words, trust their actions, because actions will prove why words are meaningless,”

Check out his story:

While Shaw didn’t take anyone’s name but the cryptic message reflects his disappointment. Known for his aggressive batting at the top-order, Shaw made a promising start to his international career. However, he was suspended for using banned substances, and ever since then, he hasn’t quite been able to work his way back into the Indian cricket team. He has played just five Tests, six ODIs, and a single T20I for India

India’s ODI squad: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubhman Gill, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), Rajat Patidar, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Shahbaz Ahmed, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Mohd. Siraj, Deepak Chahar
