Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid is one of the most respected cricketers around the world. Besides his impeccable cricketing career, the cricketer has impressed one and all as a coach.

The legendary Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid will be taking the responsibility of the head coach for Team India during their upcoming tour to Sri Lanka. Rahul Dravid will serve as the head coach for the Indian cricket team, with Ravi Shastri and the other backroom staff in England.

Meanwhile, young Indian cricketer, Prithvi Shaw, who won the Under-19 World Cup under the guidance of Rahul Dravid, revealed secrets about the coaching of Rahul Dravid.

Talking to Cricbuzz, Shaw gave insights into what it is like working under the legendary Indian cricketer and revealed how he has never forced any player to be like him. He revealed:

“We toured together with sir (Dravid) before the world cup (U19) also. He never forced any player to be like him. He didn’t change anything in batting. Told me to stick to my natural game. He knew if I play the Powerplay overs, then it’s difficult to get me out,” 

He added:

“He mostly talked about the mental aspect, tactics, and how to approach a game. He never spoke much – just during meetings. Wanted us to enjoy the game. If we are repeating mistakes then on;y he’ll come and tell you about it,”

Talking about Dravid’s U-19 World Cup stint is concerned, Prithvi Shaw stated that the players were slightly scared of the coach while training but on the field things were different. He said:

“With Rahul sir, you have to be disciplined. We were a little scared of him. Off the field, he was quite friendly with us, used to join us for dinner, sitting with a legend like him was a dream come true. Every youngster dreams of that,”

He added:

“I am sure he’s also gone through the phases of U19 cricket. So he knew exactly what to get in from us during the tour. Used to speak with each player specifically,”

In the absence of Ravi Shastri, head coach Rahul Dravid is all set to lead the senior Indian cricket team on the tour of Sri Lanka where the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, etc. are likely to be selected.
