Talented Indian opener Prithvi Shaw played another blistering knock as he registered a triple century in the Ranji Trophy game on Wednesday. Playing for Mumbai, Prithvi played a stunning knock of 379 runs to help his side pile up 687/4 in the first innings against Assam.

Shaw’s knock of 379 runs is now the second-highest score in Ranji Trophy history. He is now behind BB Nimbalkar’s unbeaten 443 runs while playing for Maharashtra against Saurashtra in 1948. While playing this knock, Shaw broke a plethora of records. He also went past former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar’s record of the highest first-class score by a Mumbai batter. Manjrekar scored 377 runs against Hyderabad in 1991.

With this knock, Shaw also became the first cricketer to register a triple hundred in Ranji Trophy, a double hundred in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (domestic 50-overs tournament), and a hundred in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s.

Shaw has been giving back-to-back amazing performances in domestic cricket and has been doing everything well with the bat to make a comeback to the national team. Though he has been performing consistently in domestic cricket, however, he has been out of the national side for over a year now. He made his comeback for the Sri Lanka tour in 2021. His white-ball form saw him make a comeback on the Test side as well. But he wasn’t included in the final XI during the England series and following that he is yet to earn a recall.
