Islamabad United Takes A Sly Dig Against India After Their Win Against Pakistan

Islamabad United, a renowned team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), got entangled in a heated social media controversy. They shocked the cricket world by calling India’s win over Pakistan in the 2023 Cricket World Cup an “upset,” and they inflamed the sentiments of supporters of the Indian team.

PSL Club Islamabad United Calls India’s Win Against Pakistan As An Upset

Two-time PSL champions Islamabad United took to social media after Afghanistan’s surprising triumph against England on a bright Sunday to make a strong message. They tweeted: “Two upsets in two days! #CWC23 is already full of surprises.”

This was a relative dig against Indian fans, after Pakistan’s crushing loss at the hands of the Indian team. Fans of the Indian cricket team, disturbed by Islamabad United’s interpretation of events, reacted angrily and immediately. The comment sparked heated controversy and renewed old concerns since it called into question Pakistan and India’s track records in previous ODI Cricket World Cups.

To put it bluntly, India has beaten the Pakistan cricket team eight times in ODI World Cup play, which is an incredible feat. These two cricketing powerhouses stand in stark contrast to one another according to their respective records in this format.

The most recent meeting, at CWC 2023, did little except highlight the glaring differences between the two sides. The Indian cricket squad, spearheaded by Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer, completely dominated the Pakistani team. Indian bowlers, headed by the prolific Jasprit Bumrah, put up a disciplined performance that made it very tough for Pakistan to advance in the game.

There were implications for Islamabad United beyond Twitter after their provocative message calling India’s victory an “upset.” It sparked a firestorm of tweets, comments, and heated arguments and reignited an old debate over Pakistan’s cricketing skill compared to its bitter enemies.

Many people considered it odd that Islamabad United used the word “upset” in their statement. This decision prompted strong reactions and sparked discussions about how the players and teams fared against one another and against cricketing records.

When it comes to cricket, the rivalry between Pakistan and India is among the fiercest and most legendary in the world. The rivalry between the two countries is legendary for the ferocity and dedication of its fans on both sides.

India has always dominated Pakistan in cricket, not only in the World Cup but in all tournaments and forms. So, it was just foolish and derogatory of the PSL club to tweet that. It seems like the Pakistani fans from all corners have lost their minds after the defeat in Ahmedabad.
