South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, who has been in some sensational form off-lately, registered his fourth century of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 tournament during his team’s clash against New Zealand in Pune on Wednesday.

Quinton de Kock registered his fourth century of World Cup 2023

QDK has been a standout performer in the ongoing tournament. Before the game against New Zealand, de Kock had played six games and had scored a total of 431 runs, making him the leading run-scorer in the tournament. His amazing performances in the tournament included three centuries, one of which was a record-breaking 174-run innings against Bangladesh.

Now he has added a new record to his name as he became the first South African batter to score 500 runs in a single edition of the World Cup on November 1 during the game against New Zealand.

This achievement made him only the 6th batter to have scored 3 hundreds in a single men’s World Cup tournament. He overtook Jacques Kallis’ record of the most runs by a South African batter in a single World Cup edition. He also equaled Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara’s feat of four centuries in a single edition of cricket’s showpiece event.

List of records shattered by de Kock with his stellar knock:

– 1st South African to score 500 runs in a WC edition.
– Most sixes in a WC edition as a Wicketkeeper.
– 3rd in history to score 4 or more WC centuries.
– Most runs as a Wicketkeeper in a WC edition.
– 1st to reach 500 runs in this WC.
– Most runs in a WC edition after the first 7 innings.

Talking about his knock, de Kock displayed his batting prowess throughout the innings, scoring a stellar fifty. His performance featured some stunning shots by a series including drives, cuts, and pulls, which kept the scoreboard ticking.

He was eventually dismissed on 114, trying to cut a slower delivery from Tim Southee. His brilliant knock was laced with 10 fours and 3 sixes.

Meanwhile, social media has been buzzing with amazing reactions from the fans, who hailed QDK for his stunning performance.
