The fans of Virat Kohli defended the Indian batsman and his wife, Anushka Sharma, for being together at Kohli’s 100th Test cap presentation in 2022 after R Ashwin’s wife, Prithi Narayanan, was with the off-spinner at the cap presentation ceremony of the off-spinner.
On Thursday, R Ashwin became the 14th Indian player to earn his 100th Test cap.
Ahead of the start of play in Dharamsala against England, head coach Rahul Dravid presented Ashwin with a commemorative cap in a glass box, something that Indian players get from the board as a memento on the occasion of their 100th Test match. Ashwin’s wife, Prithi, and their two daughters were together in this ceremony and embraced each other.
This prompted a few fans of Virat Kohli to recall that back in 2022, when Kohli received a similar momento on the occasion of his 100th Test match, few people had targetted and trolled his wife, Anushka. That game was in Mohali. Kohli, too, received this special cap from head coach Rahul Dravid, and Anushka was beside him in the event.
A section of fans had then criticised the pair for Anushka being there with Kohli who was getting an award for his professional achievement, but the same fans had no issue with Prithi being with Ashwin. The fans of Virat Kohli called this hypocrisy of a few netizens out on Twitter.
