Having played together in the Test team for over a decade, senior India players R Ashwin and Cheteshwar Pujara have developed a great camaraderie and often joke with each other on social media.

This great bond was seen again on Monday as Ashwin made a hilarious joke about Pujara bowling in the 4th Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test, in Ahmedabad.

Cheteshwar Pujara bowled only for the 2nd time in his 102-Test career, R Ashwin posted a hilarious tweet

With the Ahmedabad Test heading toward a boring draw, with the Australian batters being stubborn and defending to bat out time, India captain Rohit Sharma threw the ball to part-timers Shubman Gill and then Pujara; while Gill bowled some off-breaks, Pujara bowled leg-breaks before the players of both teams shook hands to end the game in an inevitable draw.

Taking to Twitter after the conclusion of the Ahmedabad Test, and the series which India won 2-1 and entered the WTC final, Ashwin made a hilarious joke about Cheteshwar Pujara’s bowling.

“Main kya karu? Job chod du?,” Ashwin tweeted with a picture of Pujara rolling his arm with the ball in hand.

Fans had a good laugh at this tweet from Ashwin, who was named the joint Player of the Series with Ravindra Jadeja.

Pujara replied to Ashwin’s tweet, saying that he was bowling as a thank you to Ashwin for going in as nightwatchman at number 3 in the first Test in Nagpur.

“Nahi. This was just to say thank you for going 1 down in Nagpur,” Pujara replied.

Meanwhile, India qualified for the WTC 2023 final after New Zealand defeated Sri Lanka by 2 wickets in Christchurch. It was lunchtime on Day 5 in Ahmedabad when Team India received the news that New Zealand have knocked Sri Lanka out of the WTC final race, sealing India’s date with Australia in the WTC final.

India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series for the 4th consecutive time, by 2-1 scoreline.

And for a rare occasion, there were two Player of the Series from the same team – R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja for their all-round performances.

The WTC Final 2023 will take place at The Oval in London from June 7.
