R Ashwin

India’s star spinner R Ashwin’s absence from India’s World Test Championship 2023 final playing XI became the most talked about topic of 2023. This decision of Indian team management left many fans disappointed as the veteran cricketer was left out against a team against which he had a stellar record.

While the decision to keep R Ashwin continues to baffle people, it isn’t something he has faced for the first time in his career. Over the last few years, Ashwin had to sit and warm the bench on multiple occasions when India played overseas. In fact, it doesn’t look like the off-spinner is in the selectors’ plans for the ODI World Cup this year.

R Ashwin Breaks His Silence On Non-Consideration For ODI World Cup 2023

Meanwhile, R Ashwin has opened up on the issue and stated that it is something he doesn’t go looking for an answer for. Ashwin said that he had decided long ago to not give any mental space to such thoughts.

In an interview with the Times Of India, Ashwin was asked if it affects him to not be considered for ODI World Cup 2023 selection. Responding to this, he said:

“I don’t think like that, because the selection of the team is not my job.”

He added: “I had decided long back that I would not think about stuff that is not in my hand. I am honestly in a very good space in terms of life and my cricket and I try to keep negativity away from my thought process,”

Further, Ashwin said that he has the desire to see India win the ODI World Cup again, even if he is not a part of the team.

“I live for the day and I have no unfinished business. But it’s true that I would love to see India winning the World Cup again, even if I am not playing,”
