Rahul Dravid Highlights One Weakness Of Team India He Wants To Improve: The Indian cricket team made a blockbuster start to the year by winning over South Africa in Centurion, which was their first-ever win at the venue. However, the Indian side was recently fined a point on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table as the team fell short to meet the required over-rate during the Centurion Test.

Team India had earned 12 points after their amazing win in Centurion but faced a deduction of one point as they were one over short of the target and according to the ICC regulations, the teams lose one point for each over they are short. Along with the point deduction, the entire team was fined 20 percent of the match fees for the over-rate offense.

Speaking about the same, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid ahead of the second Test match in Johannesburg in the press conference said:

ICC is trying something and it is harsh but it gets us wanting to quicken the game up so I am fine with it. Rules are the same for everyone. It’s hard, we’re playing four-seamers. It’s an area we need to get better at. Disappointing to lose points. Would be disappointing to miss out because of that. Not a problem in India need to look at it overseas,”

He added:

The rules are the same for everyone, but disappointing to lose out on hard-earned overseas points. We understand it, trying to get better overseas. It’ll be disappointing if we miss out (on the final) because of that,”

Currently, the Indian side is in the 4th spot with a PCT (points percentage) with 63.09 points and is only behind the likes of Australia, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.

Meanwhile, having sealed the ongoing series with a 1-0 lead, the Virat Kohli-led Indian side will take on South Africa in the 2nd Test with an opportunity to become the first-ever Indian team to win a Test series in South Africa.
