Ranji Trophy 2024: Riyan Parag Slams Incredible Century With 12 Sixes Ahead Of IPL 2024

Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag is having a dream run in domestic cricket across formats in the past year.

After magnificent all-round performances in Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare competitions – both white-ball formats – Parag, aged 22, has started the Ranji Trophy 2024 on a stunning, blasting a century at a strike rate of 178!

While such a strike rate in T20 cricket is what players dream of achieving, Riyan Parag batted with incredible fearlessness, waging a one-man battle for Assam against Chhattisgarh as the rest of his teammate batters disappointed.

Assam had been enforced a follow-on by Chhattisgarh after falling 168 runs short of Chhattisgarh’s first innings total. In the second innings, too, Assam batters couldn’t do much, barring captain Riyan Parag, who smashed 155 runs in only 87 balls, taking Assam to at least some lead, and saving the team’s face.

With nothing much going Assam’s way, Parag, batting at number 4, launched an astonishing counter-attack. The right-hander brought up his century in only 56 balls, and went on to wallop some more boundaries.

Assam were bowled out for 254 in their second innings, setting Chhattisgarh a small target of 86 runs. But Riyan Parag’s innings captivated everyone’s attention.

HUNDRED FOR RIYAN PARAG…..!!!

Parag has an impressive SMAT T20 tournament as well in November, where he propelled Assam to the semi-final. He was the leading run-scorer in the season with 510 runs in 10 innings, smashing runs at a strike rate of 182 with 7 half-centuries to his name. He also had snapped 11 wickets in the tournament.

Riyan Parag retained by Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2024

With the IP 2025 auction likely to be a mega-auction, Riyan Parag needs to have a good IPL 2024 season for the Rajasthan Royals. His performances in the domestic season in the last few months indicate that Parag could have a bumper IPL tournament this year in the role of a finisher and all-rounder.
