Sourav Ganguly was replaced by World Cup-winning all-rounder Roger Binny as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President in October this year. The newly appointed President has made his first move, which shows that he is on a mission to bring revolution to Indian cricket. The office bearer of the BCCI-led by Roger has urged contracted Indian stars to play domestic cricket amid a break from the national team.
Well, for the unversed, this year the Ranji Trophy witnessed a lot of returnees, with Yuzvendra Chahal and Suryakumar Yadav becoming the latest players to join their respective state teams. In the first round, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson also featured for their respective teams. Ishant Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane, who are currently out of favour, were already available for their state teams.
BCCI Wants Indian Players To Play Domestic Cricket

Now with the Ranji Trophy returning to its full-fledged form, the BCCI office-bearers have asked the contracted Indian stars to make themselves available for the domestic season. As a result, a host of Indian stars will be seen in action when the second-round matches will start on Tuesday, December 20th.
As per the report, Roger Binny has made it clear that Indian players should play in domestic tournaments when they are not playing in international games during that time. Notably, only all format players are to be afforded rest under BCCI’s new diktat.
“It had to happen. They need match practice to stay fit. With many injuries of late, we must have players ready for all formats. As President indicated, all Indian players barring all-format guys should play in domestic,” BCCI official told InsideSport
