The current Chennai Super Kings captain and the legendary former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, is celebrating his 41st birthday on Thursday, July 7th. Loved as ‘Captain Cool’, Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020 but has led CSK in the last two IPL seasons and has also confirmed to lead them next year.
A magician on the field and a charming presence off it, Dhoni has touched millions of lives in his storied journey. Wishes have been pouring in for the legendary cricketer since the clock ticked 12 midnight on Thursday.

Rashid Khan is a big fan of MS Dhoni

One special birthday wish for the Ranchi-born came from Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who is a big fan of ‘Thala’ Dhoni and also who famously plays a modified version of Dhoni’s helicopter shot, which he has named as the “Snake shot”.
The Gujarat Titans’ vice-captain uploaded a picture of himself with the CSK skipper from the IPL 2022, writing a beautiful birthday message.
“Wishing you the very best on your special day Mahi bhai” Rashid Khan tweeted.
“Hope you have a wonderful time and continue to inspire millions,” the leg-spinner added.

Rashid Khan won his first IPL trophy this year when he helped the Gujarat Titans, led by Hardik Pandya, to the title in the franchise’s debut season. Rashid played a crucial role with both bat and ball – he picked up 19 wickets while conceding only at an economy of 6.59; with the bat, he struck 91 at a strike rate of 206 and won the side a couple of close run-chases.
As far as MS Dhoni is concerned, he has already confirmed that he will continue to lead CSK next year, although a decision about for the year after will be taken later.
“Definitely [I will play IPL 2023]. It’s a simple reason: it will be unfair to not play in Chennai and say thank you [to the fans]. Mumbai is one place where, as a team and as an individual, I have got a lot of love and affection. But it wouldn’t be nice to the CSK fans,” Dhoni had told Star Sports in the last game of CSK in IPL 2022.
“And also, hopefully next year there will be an opportunity where the teams will be travelling so it will be a like thank you to all the different places where we will be playing games at different venues. Whether it will be my last year or not that’s a big question, because you know we can’t really predict about something two years down the line. But definitely I’ll be working hard to come back strong next year.”
