Dhoni walked out to bat at number eighth position for the first time in his career. Though he struggled early on, however, he soon launched a massive six over the square leg on a short ball by Jashua Little.

Former CSK net bowler Joshua Little, who was roped in by Gujarat at the 2023 mini-auction, delivered a back-of-a-length delivery, down the middle stump to Dhoni. Dhoni swung the bat across and dispatched it high and over deep square leg for a massive six.

The shot was enough to make the fans jump off their seats and roar loudly. However, the real treat was for the fans who were glued to their television sets, not on mobile or laptop, they were served with mind-blowing commentary from the legend himself — Ravi Shastri on that six, which made everyone nostalgic about the 2011 World Cup’s iconic six. Shastri said:

The house has come down here with that six. So used to seeing sixes from Dhoni. And the 100,000-plus crowd will say that they have got their money’s worth with that just one shot. We have seen enough from Ruturaj Gaikwad but this was a Paisa Vasool shot,”

In the very next ball, Little delivered the same length and Thala whacked it again, but this time for a four. Overall, Dhoni played a stunning unbeaten knock of 14 runs in seven balls, including one four and one massive six.

Talking about the game, Ruturaj Gaikwad was the top-scorer for the side with his 50-ball 92. However, CSK eventually lost the match by five wickets, losing the game at the hands of Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets.
