Senior India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has issued a heartfelt apology to youngster Sarfaraz Khan, and Jadeja admitted that it was his “wrong call” that led to the debutant getting run out in Rajkot.
It was roller-coaster day 1 of the third Test against England in Rajkot, where India finished at 326/5, and both teams would feel they lost ground at various points.
India were 33/3 after electing to bat first before Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja resurrected the innings with their 204-run stand, en route the Indian captain notching up his 11th Test ton.
In came Sarfaraz Khan, on debut, and tore into the England spinners with a spate of boundaries. The right-hander cracked 9 fours and one six in his blistering knock of 62 runs in 66 balls. However, as he looked set for a superb maiden century on debut, he got run out due to a poor call by Ravindra Jadeja, who was batting on 99.
Jadeja ended the day unbeaten on 110. Despite scoring a century, Ravindra Jadeja got a lot of flak and trolling from the fans for his misjudgment and incorrect calling of a run when he was on 99, which resulted in Khan getting run out.
