In the ongoing first Test of the five-match series against England, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja delivered an exceptional performance with both bat and ball. His crucial innings significantly contributed to India’s commanding position over the visitors in the series opener in Hyderabad.
Ravindra Jadeja scored 87 runs off 180 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Despite his impressive display, the left-handed batter fell short of achieving his fourth Test century, experiencing a controversial dismissal by Joe Root on the third day.
Following Jadeja’s exit, the Men in Blue lost the remaining two wickets without adding a run to the board. Jasprit Bumrah was dismissed for a first-ball duck, and Rehan Ahmed bowled out Axar Patel. The hosts totaled 436 runs, securing a substantial 190-run lead in the first innings.
Earlier, the southpaw spinner played a crucial role with the ball in the first innings of England in the series opener, securing three wickets for 88 runs in his 18 overs. His dismissals included important batsmen such as Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and debutant Tom Hartley on the initial day.

In his Test career, the versatile all-rounder has amassed 2891 runs in 69 matches at an average of 36.59, featuring three centuries and 20 half-centuries, with a highest score of 175. As a left-arm spinner, he has proven his bowling prowess, claiming 278 wickets at an impressive average of 24.13, including 12 five-wicket hauls in Test cricket.
