India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was thrilled after he was appointed as the new captain of Chennai Super Kings. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of the CSK outfit for almost a decade now, will only be the third player to lead Chennai Super Kings.
Well, on Thursday, MS Dhoni decided to step down from the position of CSK’s captain after leading the franchise in 13 editions. The decision came two days prior to the start of the upcoming 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in 213 IPL matches ever since the inception of the lucrative tournament in 2008. Under his leadership and guidance, Chennai Super Kings won the title four times. Ravindra Jadeja has taken over the captaincy reins of Chennai Super Kings from MS Dhoni and will be seen leading the franchise in the upcoming season.
Ravindra Jadeja has been one of the biggest match-winners for the Chennai-based franchise and has seen his growth as a cricketer while representing the CSK outfit over the years. Expressing his happiness on being named the CSK captain, Ravindra Jadeja said:
“Feeling good at the same time, I also need to fill in big boots. Like, Mahi bhai already set a big legacy, so I need to carry forward. So hopefully, I don’t need to worry too much because he is here, so whatever I have a question to ask, I will definitely go to him. He will be my go-to person. He was and still is today. So, I am not too worried. Thank you for all your wishes and love. Cheers. Keep supporting us. Thank you.”
