Although India lost the Edgbaston Test to England, star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja came back with something positive and memorable: his maiden Test hundred away from home, after his two at home.
In the first innings, Jadeja scored 104 runs off 194 balls, his innings laced with 13 boundaries, most of which were pristinely timed and placed. He was involved in an entertaining partnership with Rishabh Pant as both bailed India out of early trouble to help the side to a total of 416, which proved 132 more than what England managed in their first innings.

However, the tables turned in the second half of the match, as India, in their second innings, lost their last 7 wickets for 92 runs and folded for 245, setting a target of 378 for the hosts to level the series, which they did in emphatic fashion, chasing down the target in 76.4 overs on the back of centuries from Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow.
This is the highest successful run-chase against India and also England’s highest-ever successful run-chase in their entire history.
Ravindra Jadeja was criticized heavily for his negative lines in England’s run-chase as he looked to save runs instead of going for wickets.
Nonetheless, there were cherishable moments for him personally in the game and he took to Twitter to write a special post, wherein he expressed satisfaction for being able to contribute with the bat, but also admitted that India fell short in various aspects.
“A game which had its highs and lows. Always a great feeling to contribute for my team, even though we fell short. A hard fought series where the competition was at its best,” Jadeja tweeted, along with pictures of him with Pant, him celebrating his century and one where the entire team is celebrating a wicket.

Pant and Jadeja really got us back into the game: Bumrah
Stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah was all in praise for the counter-attacking stand between Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja, yielding 222 runs off 239 balls after India had been tottering at 98/5.
“Pant takes his chances. He and Jaddu really got us back into the game because we were really struggling at that time. [At] 98 for 5 England were on top. They counter-attacked and got us into the game, and we were ahead in the game. That’s the beauty of Test cricket, we’ve got different characters in our team,” Bumrah said.
