The young and talented Tilak Varma emerged out as the star performer for the five-time IPL champs Mumbai Indians (MI) in their 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League in their season opener clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Tilak Played A Stunning Knock

While the Rohit Sharma-led side suffered a horrible batting collapse, Tilak stole the show with his bat as he played a stellar knock to take his side to a big total of 171/7. Mumbai was reeling at 48/4 at one stage. Tilak, who earned an India A call-up last year, impressed one and all with his batting prowess.

Mumbai Indians made the worst-possible start to their innings as they lost their top-order Ishan Kishan (10), Rohit Sharma (1), and Cameron Green (5) inside the powerplay. T20 sensation Suryakumar Yadav also left his fans heartbroken as he was dismissed for 15.

But Tilak took over the responsibility and made sure that his side breaches the 150-run mark and put up a big total.

Tilak Varma Smashed A Helicopter Shot

Tilak Varma played an unbeaten knock of 84 runs off just 46 balls. His amazing knock was laced with 9 fours and 4 sixes as he lit up the  M Chinnaswamy Stadium with his outstanding shots.

While all his shots were a treat to the eyes however his one shot made everyone remember the legendary MS Dhoni. During his knock, Tilak smashed a stunning Helicopter Shot on the last delivery of MI’s innings was probably the best of all.

Interestingly, India is celebrating 12 years of the iconic 2011 World Cup win of India, when MS Dhoni sealed the summit clash with his iconic signature shot. Tilak smashed a beautiful helicopter shot as he paid a tribute to the Indian legend. The amazing shot saw Mumbai Indians finishing the innings at a high total of 171/7.

The video of the same has been going viral on the internet, watch it here:
