Virat Kohli backed Yuvraj Singh’s for the ongoing ODI series against England. When Yuvraj Singh was picked in India’s limited-overs squad for the ongoing ODI and T20 series against England, some raised objection by saying selectors need to look at the larger picture and invest more in young players. But, Yuvraj stunned all his critics in the best possible way. After India lost three early wickets, Yuvraj Singh came in to bat at number 4 and demolished England’s bowling attack. He batted very aggressively and didn’t allow English bowlers to create pressure in the middle.

Yuvraj was very well supported by MS Dhoni, who also scored a hundred and provided the late flourish in the end. Dhoni batted for 122 balls and scored 134 runs. Dhoni rotated the strike well when Yuvraj Singh was hitting the ball well and played a good supporting role. But after Yuvraj’s reached his hundred, Dhoni also started playing shots and helped India reach the total of 381 in the end.

India’s captain Virat Kohli was all praise for Yuvi and Dhoni after the match. He hailed the match winning effort of Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, saying the “greats” showed why they were pivotal to the team’s progress.

“We were wondering if we had a good start were we would have ended up…It wasn’t good batting early on. Two of the greats stood up, that is what the team management envisioned (the prospect of both Yuvraj and Dhoni in the playing eleven),” Kohli said during the post-match presentation ceremony.
