Yuvraj Singh announced his comeback to ODI cricket in style in the second match of the ongoing series against England. Yuvi scored his career-best score of 150 off 127 balls. This is also his career best score. His previous best in ODIs was 139 against Australia.

Yuvraj Singh has always enjoyed batting against England in limited-overs cricket. Yuvraj Singh scored his 14th ODI hundred and in the process, surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of maximum ODI runs against England. Sachin Tendulkar scored 1455 runs against England in 37 innings with an average of 44.09, including two hundreds. Yuvraj Singh left Sachin Tendulkar behind after scoring a total of 1478 runs in 35 innings against England.

Yuvraj now also holds the record of highest individual runs scored against England in an innings – 150 runs off 125 balls. Yuvi batted with a lot of flair and looked very determined and comfortable right from the word go. He was under a lot of pressure because a section of media had raised objection against his selection. There was a view that Yuvraj is getting old and selectors should invest in young cricketers, keeping ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in mind.

He came in to bat when India were struggling after losing 3 quick wickets. India’s top 3; KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli were dismissed for 20 odd runs. It was the marathon between Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni that helped India first get into a comfortable position and then post a big total of 381 runs in their quota of 50 overs.
