When it comes to cricket, Venkatesh Prasad is head and shoulders above the rest of the critics. The former Indian cricketer is one of the most fascinating people in cricket since he has never been one to hold back his opinions. We explore Prasad’s candid views on corruption in different industries and his recent statements against the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in this piece.
Throughout his cricketing career, Venkatesh Prasad was noted for his reckless play and his ability to swing the ball in all directions. Prasad’s bravery on the pitch has followed him into his career as a cricket commentator. He hasn’t been afraid to speak out against other cricketers, boards, or even the sport’s governing bodies.
Prasad has recently voiced his concerns about the ACC (Asian Cricket Council). The announcement of a special ‘Reserve Day’ by the ACC for the India vs. Pakistan Super 4 matchup caused much consternation among cricket fans. Prasad was not diplomatic in his criticism of the ACC’s decision.

Prasad is just as vocal on Twitter as he is in person. He sent a controversial tweet on the social media platform X (previously Twitter). He stated, “It takes one corrupt, arrogant guy to take away the hardwork of an otherwise non-corrupt organisation and spoil the reputation of an entire organisation & the impact isn’t just micro but at a macro level. This is true in every field, be it politics, sports, journalism, corporate.”

Prasad deleted the message, however, since it drew criticism and controversy. He made some changes and republished it, but the underlying message remained the same: a single crooked employee may undermine an otherwise honest enterprise.
When asked why he had deleted the tweet, Prasad said, “That was a general tweet where I spoke about how one person who is corrupt can undo a lot of good work of his organisation and it can have large-scale implications on a macro level as well in any field. Since I was also speaking about the inefficiency of the BCCI around tickets in other tweets, it led to confusion and looked out of context. Hence deleted. varna naam lekar khulkar bolne mein Rambhakt kisiko chhodte nahin , Jai Shree Ram”

Prasad has been critical of a number of organisations, not simply the ACC. He has also expressed his displeasure with the BCCI, India’s cricket governing body, over their handling of ticket sales for the 2023 ICC One-Day International World Cup. Prasad’s commitment to cricket’s integrity is shown by the fact that he is not afraid to criticise the sport in any way, shape, or form, from player selection to administrative decisions.

No one criticises cricket decisions like Venkatesh Prasad. His fearlessness and openness have won him fans and detractors among cricket fans. Prasad is always straightforward in his evaluations, whether he is criticising corruption or challenging the current quo.
