One of India’s biggest news house NDTV have reported that the three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman- have decided to keep Anil Kumble as the coach of the Indian cricket team.

It is being reported that barring one member, all other members of the board are in favour of giving Anil Kumble an extension. A source close to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said that majority of members are not in favour of  setting a precedent where the captain has control over choosing who the coach of the side would be.

Earlier, BCCI released a statement saying that the next coach, or wherever in appointed by CAC, will be given a contract till ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

“The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of the BCCI met today and discussed the process with regard to the selection of the head coach of the Senior India Men team and it was decided by the CAC to revert to the BCCI, at an appropriate time.Whether it is Anil Kumble retained or anyone else roped in, whoever gets the job will be given a contract till 2019 World Cup,” A statement from the BCCI said.

Reports: Anil Kumble-Virat Kohli Saga A Takes New Turn

In the last couple of weeks, we have seen many stories come out from different sources. Reports emerged on Wednesday that BCCI are looking to announce the next coach before the conclusion of ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

Earlier, some media houses also reported that Virat Kohli had asked two members of the CAC to include Ravi Shastri in the process before departing to England for the Champions Trophy.

Our view: It will now be interesting to see whether Anil Kumble is officially announced as the coach until the 2019 World Cup in England before the conclusion of ICC Champions Trophy 2017. He has had a good run as India’s head coach and on the basis of merit, he must get an extension.
