Reports: KL Rahul joins Team India’s squad ahead of the second Test against England

India’s young opening batsman KL Rahul, who suffered an untimely hamstring injury in the first Test of India’s home series against New Zealand, has reportedly been called to join India’s squad for the second Test of the ongoing 5-match series between India and England. According to a report published on Sportskeeda.com, KL Rahul will join Team India as the 16th member of the squad for the second Test against England on 17th November at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Vizag.

KL Rahul impressed one and all with his brilliant display of batting in the Test series against West Indies and all eyes were on him when the big home season started. But, unfortunately, KL Rahul suffered an untimely hamstring injury that forced him go back to the training centre and work on his fitness all over again. KL Rahul was replaced by Gautam Gambhir, who made a comeback to Test cricket after 2 long years, but he failed to put up a good show and now with Rahul’s return, his place in India’s playing XI for the second Test against England is looking highly unlikely.

KL Rahul is a very hardworking cricketer and he worked hard on his fitness and made a timely return to cricket in a Ranji Trophy game for Karnataka. In his comeback game for Karnataka, KL Rahul batted well and showed absolutely no signs of rust. As players are required to prove their fitness at the first-class level before being deemed eligible for an international recall, Rahul’s good show in the Ranji Trophy sent a positive message across to the selectors.
