Rishabh Pant Will Comeback To DC Home-Ground In The Next Match

On Tuesday (April 4), as the Delhi Capitals look to earn their first victory of IPL 2023, the presence of their captain, Rishabh Pant, is likely to boost the team’s confidence.

On Tuesday, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the Delhi Capitals will play the first home game of the current edition, facing off against the defending champions. The squad from the nation’s capital lost their opening match by 50 runs to the Lucknow Super Giants and will be hoping to improve on that performance.

The team captained by David Warner struggled with the bat and the ball in their first match of the tournament. After scoring 193 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs, LSG easily dispatched Delhi’s batting lineup. They were chasing 194 and only managed to score 143 for 9.

“Rishabh has always been an integral part of Delhi Capitals. There is a high possibility that he will be present for the season’s first home game against GT on Tuesday. He will definitely be in the team owner’s box but if ACSU allows, he might also sit for some time in the team dug-out,” an IPL source privy to the development in the Capitals’ camp told PTI.

On Tuesday, Rishabh Pant, captain of the Delhi Capitals, will lead his team in search of their first victory of the Indian Premier League 2023. PTI states that the wicketkeeper-batsman may be allowed to sit in the dugout if the franchise is able to get the necessary approval from the BCCI‘s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU).

After suffering serious injuries in a car accident last December, Rishabh Pant is now making a full recovery. He recently had surgery on his right knee and is just getting around to beginning his physical therapy. It appears that he will be sidelined for a considerable amount of time.

“It seemed a bit over the top. Such a gesture is reserved in case of ultimate tragedy or retirement. In this case, it was neither. Rishabh is well and truly on his way to recovery faster than one expected. So while it was done with a noble intention, it is learnt that BCCI has politely told the franchise to avoid such gesture in future,” an IPL source said.

According to the report, the BCCI was also not pleased with the way Delhi Capitals treated Rishabh Pant in their previous match. As a sign that he is “always with the team in spirit,” Pant’s No. 17 jersey was hung from the top of the dugout. However, the BCCI was reportedly unimpressed by DC’s gesture, despite widespread praise for it.
