Rishabh Pant Comeback: Sourav Ganguly Confirmed Pant's Return Series

The Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly has given the biggest hint on the comeback of Rishabh Pant. Ganguly is confident that Pant will make his comeback and lead the Capitals in IPL 2024.

Rishabh Pant is currently in Kolkata where the Delhi Capitals franchise is hosting a camp for their players in India at the moment.

The Capitals are conducting their training camp at the Jadavpur University second Campus Cricket Association of Bengal ground in Saltlake, Kolkata. Pant was there to meet with the management to discuss plans for next month’s IPL 2024 auction.

Rishabh Pant is in good shape. He will play from next season: Sourav Ganguly

The Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant had to miss the IPL 2023 and all cricket this year due to being involved in a car accident in December last year. He was fortunate to survive a near-fatal car crash and has made a good, quick recovery. He even participated in light-work practice games at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

Will Rishabh Pant play in IPL 2024?

Speaking with India Today, Sourav Ganguly said that Pant is regaining his fitness and will feature in the IPL 2024.

“Rishabh Pant is in good shape. He will play from next season. He will not practice now. He is here till 11th November. We had a discussion about the team with Pant as he is the captain of the team, considering the upcoming auctions,” Sourav Ganguly told India Today in Kolkata.

The one good sign of his improving fitness was that Pant didn’t wear any knee straps while observing and strolling around the training camp. Of the many injuries he sustained in the car accident, his knee injuries were the most major ones.

Apart from the IPL 2023, Rishabh Pant has missed, among the major tournaments, the Test series at home against Australia, the WTC Final against Australia, and the ongoing World Cup 2023 in India. He also will miss the home Test series against England at the start of 2024 but is expected to make his comeback in the IPL 2024.

If he shows his best fitness and regains the form, Pant could make it into India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.
