Kolkata Knight Riders have successfully emerged out as the finalists of the IPL 2021. KKR defeated Rishabh Pant led Delhi Capitals by three wickets in one of the most fascinating games in IPL history to become the finalists of the 2021 edition of IPL. Now they will be locking their horns with Chennai Super Kings at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
They entered the UAE leg of IPL 2021 at the seventh spot in the points table, with 2 wins off 7 games they had played in the Indian leg, however, they made a solid comeback and scripted a dramatic turnaround this season. With one victory after another, KKR showed immense fighting spirit and had a terrific journey so far.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals was sitting at the top of the points table when they entered the UAE leg, however, in a dramatic turn of events DC lost both qualifiers to exit the tournament in third place. The journey of the Delhi-based franchise came to an end last night on a disappointing note.
A distraught Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant struggled to express himself in the post-match interview after the team’s loss. Describing his feelings after the match, Rishabh Pant said:
“I don’t have words to express at the moment. We can’t change things after the match. We just kept believing, we tried to stay in the game as long as possible. The bowlers nearly pulled it back. Unfortunately, it didn’t go our way.”
He also heaped praises on KKR’s bowlers for keeping it tight after the powerplay and making scoring difficult. He said:
“They bowled very well in the middle-overs, especially after the powerplay. We got stuck and were unable to rotate strike. The Delhi Capitals are known to be positive, and hopefully, we’ll come back better next season.”
Further, he heaped praises on the franchise and summarized IPL 2021 positively. He concluded it by saying:
“We played really good cricket, yes, there will be ups and downs, but in Delhi Capitals, we stay positive. We are there for each other, care for each other and keep learning. Hopefully, we’ll improve further and come back better next season.”
