Rishabh Pant To Donate His Match Fee To Aid Rescue Operations In Uttarakhand

India’s young and talented wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant will be donating his match fee of the ongoing 1st Test match against England in Chennai towards rescue operations for the glacier burst in Uttarakhand and also urged others to come forward to help.

For the unversed, on Sunday, a glacier broke off at Joshimath in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, resulting in a massive flood in the Dhauli Ganga river, causing wide-scale devastation in the upper regions of the Himalayas.

More than 150 laborers working on a power project are missing, homes along the way have been swept away by the waters rushing down the mountainsides. Many villages were evacuated and people were taken to safer places

Rishabh Pant, who was born in Roorkee, a town in the state’s Haridwar district, Uttarakhand, took to his Twitter and expressed his feelings on the disaster. He also announced that he would donate his match fee for the rescue operations while urging others to come out for help. He wrote:

“Deeply pained by the loss of life in Uttarakhand. Would like to donate my match fee for the rescue efforts and would urge more people to help out,”

Earlier in a post, Rishabh expressed his grief over all the lives lost in the natural calamity that took place in Uttarakhand. He wrote:

“My sincere condolences and prayers for the families of those affected by the Uttarakhand flash floods. I hope that the rescue operations underway are able to help those in trouble,”

Talking about his performance, Rishabh was in tremendous form as he took charge against England bowlers from ball one. He smashed 5 sixes in his powerful knock of 91 runs, before getting dismissed by Jack Leach.
