Sarfaraz Khan stole all the limelight on social media yesterday as he made the most of his chance and scored a century to rescue his side from a tough spot to put them in prime contention to seal the Irani Trophy. Over the last few years, Sarfaraz Khan has been knocking the doors of the selectors for a national call-up. He has established himself as the most consistent batter in the longest format of the game and has rapidly risen to fame.
Riding on the stellar performances in domestic seasons for Mumbai, Sarfaraz was named in the Rest of India squad for the 2022 Irani Cup against the 2020 Ranji Trophy Champions Saurashtra. And he impressed one and all with his stunning performance.
Sarfaraz’s unbeaten knock of 125 off 126 balls took the Rest of India to 205 for 3 after Mukesh’s swing and scorching pace from young guns Kuldeep Sen (3/41) and Umran Malik (3/25) demolished the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy Champions for a meager 98 in 24.5 overs.
Meanwhile, following his brilliant knock with the bat, the cricketing fraternity lavished praise with the Indian cricketer. Among many, former Indian cricketer and CSK’s star batter Robin Uthappa also took to his social media and hailed the performance of Sarfaraz Khan with a special Tweet
In his Tweet, Robin backed Sarfaraz for a India call-up. He wrote: “Get this kid a test match gig!! #sarfarazkhan #IraniTrophy @BCCIdomestic”
