Talking about the ongoing WTC final, Rohit Sharma walked out to open the innings for team India alongside Shubman Gill. For the unversed, both the cricketers do not have any prior experience of opening in England. However, they made sure to give team India a solid start.

Yes, India could not have asked for a better start from their openers in a bowler-friendly conditions.  While Rohit rotated the strike well before driving any overpitched deliveries with his usual panache, on the other hand, Gill plucked a couple of confident pulls and strokes down the ground.  The duo gave India its best start in 10 years and 29 innings in the difficult conditions of England.

The 62-run stand of Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma was brought to an end by Kyle Jamieson, who dismissed Rohit. Rohit was dismissed after scoring 34 runs off 68 balls, smashing 4 fours during his knock. It would be interesting to see if Hitman is able to leave a mark with his performance in the second innings of the ongoing WTC Final
