Rohit Sharma is one of the sweetest timers of the cricket ball in the world. In the last 4 years or so, he has made significant changes in his batting style and established himself as one of the most destructive opening batsmen in limited overs cricket.

Rohit is the only batsman in the history of the game to score 2 double hundreds in One Day International (ODI) cricket.

Thanks to his big hitting, fans in India like to call him ‘Hitman’ because when the Mumbai batter gets going, he deals mainly in fours and sixes.

Talking of sixes, in the fourth ODI of the ongoing series against Australia, Rohit Sharma completed 50 sixes in ODI cricket against Australia.

He has now smashed 53 sixes against Australia in One Day International cricket and is only behind former Pakistan batsman Shahid Afridi in the list of ‘most number of sixes against an opposition in ODI cricket’.

Shahid Afridi, who is widely regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen in cricket history, has 63 sixes to his credit against Sri Lanka in ODI cricket.

However, interestingly, Shahid Afridi took 64 innings to smash 63 sixes while Rohit has already smashed 53 in just 27 innings Australia.

Now, the last match of the series will be played on Sunday (1st October 2017) and Rohit Sharma will have a chance to increase the tally, and maybe go past Shahid Afridi.

If Rohit smashes 10 or more sixes in the last ODI of the series, he will break a long-standing record of Afridi. Check out the list below:

Rohit Sharma is one of those batsmen who can make hitting look elegant and classy. He smashes the ball a long way but doesn’t make it look brutal. Rather, he uses the gift of timing he possesses, and makes batting look easy in the middle.

It will be interesting to see how many sixes Rohit Sharma scores in the final ODI. Keep visiting TheCricketLounge.com for more stats, news and updates.
