Rohit Sharma will be serving as the captain of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming Bangladesh tour. Recently, he was quizzed about a few important things including the retirement speculations of the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni.

Well, a lot has already been said about MS Dhoni’s future. While the former skipper continues with his silence, cricket pundits and criticizers keep on questioning about his future whenever a new squad is announced for the limited format of the game.

In an interview, Rohit Sharma was asked about the future of MS Dhoni with the Men In Blue. Reacting to his retirement speculations, the stand-in Indian skipper turned the tables by outsmarting the reporter. He said:

“We don’t hear anything about these things. You guys make these things up.”

The ‘Hitman’ Sharma was also asked about his thoughts on whether owing to his style of play, whether it is easier for him to score double hundreds now. To which Rohit said that ‘nothing comes easy’. He said:

“Nothing comes easy in Test cricket. In the initial phase of my Test career, I was giving too much respect to the bowlers while forgetting that I have to keep playing my natural game. I will keep playing my shots in the future as well even if people start criticizing me. I will keep backing my game. I know what the team management has told me and I have been given a role. Even if 10 innings don’t work out the way I want, it won’t affect me as the team management backing is very important. If I can keep doing that, the team will be in a very dominant position in Test cricket,”

Talking about his captaincy for the upcoming tour to Bangladesh, he said:

“These (captaincy) things are not in our hands. Whether you captain one or 100 matches, it is an honor,”

He added:

“When we were growing up, it was all about playing for the country. I have captained the team and the experience has been good and I don’t think about for how long I should be made captain. Whenever I get the chance to captain the team, I try and enjoy that,”
