The IPL 2021 ended on a heartbreaking note for the Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians as they incurred one of their worst seasons ever in the IPL history. The five-time champions, who is the most successful teams of the IPL, failed to make it to the playoffs of this season and ended in 5th position in the points table.
Meanwhile, mega-auction will take place ahead of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League and this time, the teams will get shuffled majorly.
Talking about the same, Mumbai Indians’ captain Rohit Sharma expressed how he wishes to have the same core squad for Mumbai every time but this can’t be the case now. Rohit Sharma said that they won’t get the same squad in Mumbai Indians until some miracle takes place.
It is no secret that the Mumbai Indians reached new heights with their current set of players over the years. Mumbai Indians’ squad is often hailed as the strongest and the balanced one. In a video shared by Mumbai Indians via their official Twitter handle, Rohit Sharma said:
“We won’t have the same squad unless some miracle happens. It will be hard not to have all of them as part of the same group next year. But, hopefully, we can get the same core group of players and create a magical couple of years,”
Furthermore, Rohit Sharma heaped praises on their talent scout which played an instrumental role in their last mega auction, and picked some of the best players in the squad. Rohit feels that they did a remarkable job by keeping an eye on all the domestic games and also by providing feedback to the management for the same. He said:
“The credit has to go to the scouts. Who just go day in and day out and watch all the domestic games. And give us feedback as to what individuals are doing. These players are not made over one or two games or one or two seasons. It’s a lot of hard work over the years that they have put in to make sure that they get the environment they want, to go out there and do the best they can,”
“All these players are not just made in one or two days… Its a lot of hard work that they have put in.” ?
