Rohit Sharma Paid A Heartfelt Tribute To CDS Bipin Rawat And 11 Other Martyrs: The whole country was left in shock after Gen Bipin Rawat, India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, his wife Madhulika, and 11 other armed forces lost their lives in an unfortunate and tragic incident that took place on Wednesday. CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife, Madhulika Rawat, along with 11 other personnel died after an army chopper carrying him and others crashed in the Nilgiri Hills in Tamil Nadu.

Pictures and videos showing wreckage scattered on a hillside and the local people struggling through the smoke and fire to find the bodies have been making rounds on the internet. For the unversed, General Rawat, 63-years-old, was India’s first Chief of Defence Staff in January 2019. This position was set up with the aim of integrating the three services — the Navy, the Army, and the Air Force.

In no time, social media was flooded with tweets and messages from all corners. Several prominent names, celebrities, and cricketers took to their social media to express their grief on the unfortunate incident.

India’s newly appointed T20I and ODI captain, Rohit Sharma also took to Twitter to pay his condolences to the friends and family members of CDS Rawat. He wrote:

“Extremely tragic… My heartfelt condolences to family and friends of CDS General Bipin Rawat and the 11 army personnel. We will always be grateful for your service towards our nation.”

India’s Test captain, Virat Kohli also took to Twitter to pay his condolences and express his grief on the unfortunate incident. He wrote:

Deeply saddened by the untimely demise of CDS Bipin Rawat ji and other officials in a tragic helicopter crash. My deepest condolences to the friends & family members,”

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also expressed his grief on the unfortunate incident and untimely demise of all the 13 people. He wrote:

“Deeply saddened by the tragic and untimely demise of Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Bipin Rawat, his wife Mrs. Madhulika Rawat and 11 other personnel of our armed forces. My deepest condolences to their families and well-wishers,”
