Rohit Sharma Paid A Heartfelt Tribute To CDS Bipin Rawat And 11 Other Martyrs: The whole country was left in shock after Gen Bipin Rawat, India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, his wife Madhulika, and 11 other armed forces lost their lives in an unfortunate and tragic incident that took place on Wednesday. CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife, Madhulika Rawat, along with 11 other personnel died after an army chopper carrying him and others crashed in the Nilgiri Hills in Tamil Nadu.
Pictures and videos showing wreckage scattered on a hillside and the local people struggling through the smoke and fire to find the bodies have been making rounds on the internet. For the unversed, General Rawat, 63-years-old, was India’s first Chief of Defence Staff in January 2019. This position was set up with the aim of integrating the three services — the Navy, the Army, and the Air Force.
