India’s swashbuckling batsman and one of the best batters in the history of limited-overs cricket, Rohit Sharma did the unthinkable against New Zealand in the third match of the ongoing 5-match T20I series. Rohit batted in his trademark style after India won the toss and laid a solid foundation at the top of the order. Rohit took his time initially but once he got his eyes in, he smashed the Kiwi bowlers all-round the park.

He scored runs off balls before getting out in India’s innings. But, his best came in the super over after the match got tied and New Zealand gave India the target of 18 runs in the super over. Rohit mistimed a couple of balls in the super over but when the time came, he smashed two back to back sixes to take India home. With India requiring 10 off the last two balls, Rohit Sharma hammered back to back sixes to hand India their maiden T20I series win in New Zealand.

Rohit Sharma Posted A ‘Champion Wali’ Tweet After His Match-Winning Performance

After the game, Rohit Sharma said that he didn’t know what to expect in the super over as he had never done that before.

“Never done that before (batting in Super Over). I didn’t know what to expect, whether to go (after the bowlers) from the first ball or just take a single, try and put pressure on the last three or four balls of the over. I just wanted to stay still and was waiting for the bowler to make a mistake,” said Rohit Sharma.

“Wanted to bat normally, I hadn’t got runs in the first two games, wanted to do well today. We knew we would win the series today if we win the match – in important games, the important players need to step up and get counted,” Rohit Sharma added.

The Hitman also took to Twitter and posted a heart-touching tweet for his fans with a special mention for Kane Williamson for his brilliant innings. Rohit also praised Mohammed Shami for his brilliant bowling in the last over. Check out his tweet here:

Seriously, what a game! @MdShami11 ‘s over won us the game. Valiant effort from Williamson though.
