Sad news for the Indian Cricket fans came out today when Board of Control for Cricket in India President Sourav Ganguly confirmed that allrounder Hardik Pandya is not fit to play in any form of cricket including domestic cricket. The allrounder has been an integral part of the squad in recent times but injuries have taken a toll on the Baroda all-rounder recently.
Hardik was expected to return to the Indian squad in the on-going series in New Zealand but was later ruled out owing to his recovery from the injury. Hardik was set to be a part of India “A” squad for an ODI series against the Kiwis and was also seen bowling in the nets to Indian batsman and it looked like he was in fine momentum and it looked like the all-rounder will return to the first-team action pretty soon. But now Ganguly has cleared the air regarding his availability which comes as a piece of sad news for Indian cricket enthusiasts.
Ganguly cleared stated that Pandya is in no condition to play not even in domestic cricket and he is currently taking part in a training at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. So that keeps him out from the series against New Zealand and we may again see the 26-year old back in Indian Premier League 2020 for Mumbai Indians.
Hardik last featured for the Men in Blue back in September in a T20 clash against South Africa at home as his last match in ODI stretches to the semi-final of the Cricket World Cup in England while the last time he represented Indian in red ball was back in 2018 again against the Three Lions at their own den.
The Baroda all-rounder has featured for India on all formats mustering 11 Test appearances, 54 One Day Internationals and lastly 40 T20Is in which period he has scored 1700 runs and has done commendably well with the ball as well by picking by 109 wickets in that time frame.
India are currently leading the T20 International series against the Kiwis 2-0 and needs one more win to win the trophy and clinch the series as a three-match One Day internationals right after the current T20Is while a two-match Test series also awaits against the Black Caps starting in late February. The Men in Blue are yet to announce their test squad for the series.
