Rohit Sharma Shattered Hardik Pandya’s Ego With A Cracking Reply

After a shaky start in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League, Mumbai Indians under the leadership of Rohit Sharma have wonderfully turned the tables around for themselves and have made it to the business end of the IPL 2023. After successfully defeating LSG in Eliminator 1 round of the IPL 2023, MI is now just two steps away from clinching their sixth title.

Rohit Sharma busted a big myth about Mumbai Indians

With the absence of key players like Jasprit Bumrah, and Jofra Archer, Mumbai Indians have busted the myth that their past success has come because of having superstar players in the squad. Veteran bowler Piyush Mishra, and uncapped players like Akash Madhwal, and Tilak Varma have helped Mumbai put up clinical performances in the ongoing season.

The same issue was addressed by MI captain Rohit Sharma, who gave the example of players like Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera shining for the five-time champions this season and stated that their stories will be similar to Jasprit Bumran and Hardik Pandya. Rohit predicted that the duo would go on to become not only big players for Mumbai but also for India.

Notably, Tilak has been a big revelation for Mumbai in the past two seasons with the bat as the southpaw has been amazing in the middle-order. He has amassed 274 runs off 9 games before he was sidelined because of an injury.

On the other hand, Nehal Wadhera has excelled in the absence of Tilak Varma, playing some crucial knocks for the side. He has amassed 214 runs in 12 games at an average of 30.57 and has scored two fifties.

Speaking to Jio Cinema, Rohit said: “Nehal Wadhera and Tilak Verma will repeat the story of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya and they will be huge stars for MI and India in the future but the MI coaching team and scouts have worked really hard on them,”

He added: “Bhai hum bana rahe he idhar baith ke yaar. Hum jaa rahe he unhe dekh rahe he. Hamari team jaa rahi h dekh rahi he unko aur leke aa rahi h. (Brother, we are making them. We are going and seeing them. Our team is going and bringing them here),”

How he has shattered Hardik Pandya’s ego with this reply?

Well, Rohit’s statements have come just days after former MI player and current Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya stated that MI has been successful because of buying the best players. He had lavished praise on CSK for the way their amazing team environment. He had said:

“There are two kind of success you can get. One is get the bestest people possible from A to B which I feel MI had, those few years where we’ve won or have the best environment possible for you to win which has been a CSK type where no matters who players are they get the best out of them. That was more inspiring for me to not get the best players but to get the best environment and get this thing,”
